To help your body optimize its fat burning potential you should load up on Cabbage, Brussels Sprouts, Kale, Cauliflower, and Broccoli. YUM! :)

These vegetables all contain a phytochemical called Indole-3-Carbinol (I3C) which helps to block the effect of environmental estrogens. This is important for fat burning because environmental estrogens can cause your body to store more of the food you eat as fat and make it more difficult to burn the fat that is already on your body.

Additionally, researchers are interested in indole-3-carbinol for cancer prevention, particularly breast, cervical and endometrial cancer. Their reason is that diets with higher amounts of fruit and vegetable consumption are associated with a decreased risk of developing cancer. Researchers suspect indole-3-carbinol is one of several vegetable components that might protect against cancer.
